On our weekend trip to San Antonio, we stayed right in the heart of downtown at Best Western Premier Historic Travelers Hotel Alamo/Riverwalk, and here’s my honest take.
We wanted a place close to all the main attractions so we could skip the hassle of finding parking, paying hefty fees, and getting stuck in traffic. That’s when we came across this hotel on Booking.com (my go-to site for hotel bookings) offering the best deal in the area.
The location couldn’t have been better, just a 5-minute walk to the Alamo, River Walk, and several other attractions. We paid $150 per night, which felt like a steal deal considering it was peak season. Here’s a tour of our hotel in San Antonio.
Now, despite the “Historic” in its name, there’s nothing particularly historic about the interiors, though the building itself dates back to 1914. If you happen to know more about its history, drop it in the comments, I’d love to hear! 😊
Here’s a closer look at our stay and why I’d recommend it.
The Room at Best Western Premier Historic Travelers Hotel

We stayed in a Queen Room, which was a bit compact at 19 m², but it was well-equipped and made good use of the space. It offered ample storage, air conditioning, a TV, a coffee station, microwave, fridge, and more. The highlight was definitely the stunning skyline view from the window.
The bathroom was spacious and stocked with all the necessary amenities. Overall, the room is ideal for one or two travelers with minimal luggage. The interiors were clean and modern, and I especially appreciated the convenient charging ports right next to the bed.
Other facilities at Best Western Premier Historic Travelers Hotel

The hotel doesn’t offer complimentary breakfast or in-room meal service, but it does have an on-site Indian restaurant called Delicious Indian Cuisine & Bar. It has great online reviews, and we noticed it stayed busy almost all day.
Amenities include an indoor pool, business center, fitness center, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Breakfast is available for an additional cost, so it’s best to confirm details during check-in. We didn’t have a car during our stay, but the hotel does offer parking for guests.
Final Thoughts about Best Western Premier

Although my stay here was just for one night, I genuinely enjoyed it. The bed was comfortable and spotless, and the customer service was friendly and accommodating. The best part, though, was the location, right in downtown, making it perfect for exploring the city on foot.
Overall, I’d give my stay a solid 4/5. I’m taking off one point mainly because of the smaller room size and the lack of a complimentary breakfast option. Otherwise, it’s a great choice for anyone visiting San Antonio.
