Why we cannot ignore sustainable travel anymore?
More than a billion people travel every year, which means by the time you finish this sentence, over 300 people will have arrived somewhere! And with that, comes billions of single-use plastic utensils and similar non-biodegradable waste choking the environment.
At Backpacking with my lens, we decided to do something about this problem. We can no longer afford to let sustainable travel be an afterthought. Reducing travel-related waste needs to be a priority!
After a thorough research and speaking to a bunch of people, two broad themes showed up. One, travellers want to invest their time and effort researching their destination, not scouting for reusable travelware to reduce waste. Second, sustainable travelware are priced beyond the range the average traveller is willing to shell out.
Where does SU-TRA fit in?
SU-TRA’s Sustainable Travel Kit is a combo of products that are a great alternatives to the things we trash the most while travelling, like single-use plastic bottles, plastic straws and cutlery. We believe that with immediate action, we can create longstanding and necessary sustainable change.

and continue to look for ways to reduce it.
Locally sourced raw materials
Majority of our raw materials are manufactured in India, and the ones that are not, we are working on finding the suppliers locally. Sourcing the raw material locally has not only helped us in shortening the supply chain but also is environment friendly.
100% Plastic free products
Everyone is aware that plastic is non-biodegradable but it’s a little known fact that only 9% of the plastic ever produced is recycled, the rest ends up in oceans and choking our environment. Plastic is a notoriously difficult product to recycle, so I decided to cut out plastic altogether from the kit.
Minimal to no processing
Looking fashionable doesn’t have to be bad for the environment. We decided to embrace the natural textures of our fibers and raw materials and complemented them with clean, minimalist designs, inked with natural dyes and pigments. Sport your sustainable, practical looks with pride.
100% Eco-friendly Packaging
If, at the flick of a switch, we could convert all packaging to be eco-friendly, over 200 million tonnes of land-choking waste would disappear instantly! We all hold the key to this, the switch is in our heads.

Every piece of our product is made of natural material that are reusable, recyclable, biodegradable and compostable, which means it’s better for the environment (and for us!).

What is the delivery time?
Normally, it takes 1-2 business days to prepare your order and another 3-5 working days for delivery within Delhi NCR and 6-10 days for rest of the Indian cities.
How to take care of my Bamboo products?
Because your product is handcrafted from natural, organic material, it’s a good idea to take extra care of it. We have some basic recommendations for how to clean and store your bamboo products. To clean your bamboo straw, rinse the straw under the tap after everyday use or shake in a jar of warm soapy water and air dry them. Do not use abrasive scrubbers or put them in the dishwasher.
Return and refund
Can I return my product?
We currently do not accept returns or refunds. However, if you are unhappy with your order, please let us know at [email protected] what we could’ve done to better serve you! Accountability is key!
What if a product turns out to be defective?
Although we do a thorough check before shipping our products. However, if any of our product turns out to be defective or damaged, simply send us a picture within 48 hours of receiving the product along with the issue to our email [email protected] and we will handle the rest.
