I first saw Crater Lake from an airplane window in 2022, on a flight to San Francisco. One second it was clouds and mountains, and then this enormous blue circle appeared below us. Even from that height, it did not look real. I remember thinking that I had to see it properly one day, from the rim rather than through a tiny plane window.
