Hello, my lovely readers! Yet another long-awaited article I wanted to share with you all about my first solo trip experience. I’m proud to say that it was a smooth trip, and I did a lot of self-discovery that helped improve my future travel experiences.

Is it safe to travel solo in India?

When you think of travelling solo in a country like India, you think of the narrow crowded lanes filled with men staring at you or probably catcalling. Another concern I often encounter is the crime happening now and then. Being a resident of India, I believe that these are some legit concerns. Even our parents are not very keen on sending their kids solo to a new city. Unfortunately, even in 2023, there is nothing we can do about it. I recommend choosing cities with low crime rates and safe to travel like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai etc. Moreover, I recommend downloading these apps before your trip to make your trip hassle-free.

When, where and how was my first solo trip?

My first solo trip was in 2018 to the city of gardens, Bengaluru, India. I was quite nervous about it. However, the city and its people were very welcoming. This led me to explore so much in a brief span. I still remember every single detail of the trip like it was yesterday.

I took an evening flight from Delhi to Bengaluru, where I met a super chirpy lady who accompanied me throughout my flight journey. She was a blogger and a talkative one! She shared many fascinating stories about her recent trip to Dubai, helping me kill time (because I find flights boring).

This trip holds a special place in my heart because I experienced many things for the first time. From attending my first ever design conference to staying at a hotel alone and realising that I’m scared to sleep alone (lol), from spending a day exploring the city at my pace to eating at a restaurant alone. Every step was a learning experience that helped me grow as an individual and a traveller.

Is Bengaluru safe to travel alone?

A big yes! I’ve been to Bengaluru a few times (mostly alone), and I didn’t feel anxious or unsafe roaming the streets, even at night. The auto drivers are a bit annoying. However, the metro is a wonderful alternative if you want to explore the city as it covers many touristy places.

Since I was alone, I travelled at my pace, allowing me to cover almost everything in a single day. Moreover, it made me more confident and even taught me to navigate better.
