If you are considering traveling on Turkish Airlines for your next flight, especially from the USA to India (and vice versa), this blog post is for you. I recently traveled on Turkish Airlines from Seattle to Delhi and want to share my experience with you. So, look no further, keep reading this article to know all about the booking process, amenities, and overall experience.

You can also read my latest blog post, where I share tips to kill your time at Istanbul Airport during a layover. Moreover, you can also watch my mini-vlog where I share my journey from Seattle to Delhi traveling Turkish Airlines.

Booking Experience

We booked the cheapest ticket available (at that time), which cost approximately $2200 for two people, round trip. It was the most basic ticket without any benefits, so we had to pay extra to modify our flight dates, which cost an additional $600 (approx) for two

However, we felt the overall cost was quite competitive compared to other airlines, which was one of the main reasons to book this. The only hiccup in the booking experience was the lack of a clear price breakdown during the payment process, which made the pricing unclear when we modified our travel dates.

Check-in Experience & Baggage Policy

Turkish Airlines doesn’t accept mobile boarding passes for international flights, so be prepared to check in at the counter. They offer one free cabin bag (8 kgs), one personal item (3 kgs), and two checked bags (23 kgs each). You can find more details about their baggage policy here. Overall, the check-in process was a breeze, and it took us merely 10 minutes to get our boarding passes.

The boarding process was also straightforward. There were three separate lines for boarding to ensure an organized flow. We waited for about 15 minutes before stepping onto the plane.

In-flight Amenities

We were surprised by the amenities provided to us. They surely know how to make passengers feel comfortable. Each passenger received blankets, pillows, headphones, and a toiletries kit containing socks, slippers, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and lip balm.

We were seated in the last row, and unlike other airlines, there was ample legroom and reclining seats. Moreover, the flight attendants deserve special mention as they were incredibly attentive to our needs and were very friendly. We encountered a minor issue with our original seats, and they promptly offered us an alternative one, ensuring a hassle-free journey.

Food & Entertainment

If you’re worried about staying entertained during a long flight, Turkish Airlines has got you covered. The in-flight entertainment system was top-notch, loaded with all the latest movies, TV shows, and entertaining games. I lost track of time playing Sudoku and treasure hunt.

Turkish Airlines served two meals on the first flight and one on the second, and every dish was delicious. The hot bread, in particular, was the main highlight. To make the dining experience even better, they offered some delightful Turkish wine and coffee that paired perfectly with our meals.

Overall Experience

Overall, our 21-hour journey from Seattle to Delhi with Turkish Airlines was remarkably comfortable and far from boring. We arrived at our destination feeling refreshed and satisfied. If you’re planning your next international trip, we highly recommend choosing Turkish Airlines.

Do you know if we need to have any sort of visa
To travel via Istanbul? Like we have for Canada.

Just wants to make sure before I book my flight

Hey! No you don’t need a visa for your layover, but if you’re planning to step outside of the airport then you’ll need a transit visa/ tourist visa depending on the number of days. But for a layover, you won’t need one! Hope that helps 🙂
