Seattle in the spring is an ideal time to visit the city. The temperatures are moderate, and the city is in full bloom, with cherry blossoms, magnolias, and tulips adding their sweet scent to the air. Plus, you can attend several events, from the International Film Festival to the Tulip Festival in Skagit. Therefore, to make the most of your visit, I have compiled a list of activities you can do on your visit to Seattle during spring.

When does spring start in Seattle?

Spring in Seattle starts in late February and lasts until early June. I call this the golden period as it falls right before the peak tourist season. Hence, expect to find less crowded parks and beaches. Moreover, the weather during spring is mostly cloudy, with occasional sunny days, making it comfortable for outdoor activities as it is not too hot or cold.

Festivals

U-District Cherry Blossom Festival

The University of Washington campus is home to 29 cherry blossom trees, a gift from Japan. These trees bloom in full splendor at the beginning of spring, marking the arrival of the warmer season. In celebration, the University hosts an annual event known as the U-District Cherry Blossom Festival. This festival transforms the university grounds into a vibrant display of pink and white blossoms, making for a picturesque setting. You can participate in the annual marathon, attend cultural performances, or simply treat yourself at one of the U-District restaurants after getting your portrait with cherry blossoms and Mt. Rainier (on a clear day) as the backdrop.
