Abhishek and I are passionate about Asian cuisine, and in 2022, we had the opportunity to try over 50 different Asian restaurants in Seattle. While some were just okay, many of them were truly outstanding. We loved exploring the diverse range of flavors and dishes that Asian cuisine offers, from discovering new favorites like Filipino specialties to indulging in our go-to Pho and Ramen bowls.

To share our experiences with others, we created a list of our top favorites, which we’re excited to share in this blog post series. In this post, we’re highlighting our top 5 Ramen restaurants in Capitol Hill, Seattle.

Menya Musashi is a specialist in traditional Tsukemen, a type of Japanese Ramen where the noodles are served separately from the broth. We had the opportunity to try their Original Tsukemen and their specialty Hybrid Ramen. The Original Tsukemen was creamy and satisfying, while the Hybrid Ramen was a combination of black and red ramen, making it hot and spicy. The unique style of Tsukemen at Menya Musashi is definitely worth trying.

#4: Tamari Bar

Tamari Bar is renowned for its delicious Dan Dan Noodles, and we couldn’t agree more. These noodles have their roots in Sichuan Chinese cooking and have a long history as a popular street food in China. The name “Dan Dan” comes from the vendors who used to carry baskets of noodles and sauce on a pole. If you’re a fan of spicy and flavorful Chinese cuisine, you won’t want to miss the Dan Dan Noodles at Tamari Bar. The broth is bursting with bold and spicy flavors that will make your taste buds sing.

Kizuki Ramen and Izakaya is a specialist in traditional Ramen dishes known for their rich and flavorful broths and variety of toppings such as cha shu pork, green onions, and soft-boiled eggs. During our visit, we tried their Garlic Tonkatsu Shoyu Ramen and were impressed by the creamy, rich broth and ample toppings. The traditional Japanese flavors and cozy atmosphere enhance the overall dining experience at Kizuki Ramen and Izakaya.

#2: Ooink

Ooink is a rising star in the Seattle ramen scene in the trendy Capitol Hill neighborhood. The restaurant offers a unique and flavorful twist to the traditional ramen recipe. We tried their most popular dish, Mala Kotteri Ramen, made with a rich broth infused with se-abura (pork back fat). The broth has a bit of heat. However, you can adjust the spiciness to suit your taste. Whether you’re an experienced ramen lover or trying it for the first time, Ooink is a must-visit destination for anyone looking for a delicious bowl of Ramen in Seattle.

Ramen Danbo is the most popular Japanese-style Ramen restaurant in Seattle, renowned for its authentic flavors and rich pork broth. The restaurant is a local favorite and also a hit among tourists. We tried the Negi-Goma Ramen, loaded with Welsh onion and topped with creamy broth and a spicy sauce. It was one of the best ramen dishes I have tried in Seattle, and I highly recommend giving it a try.
